Week 2 Bet

Week 2 - Rosehill - Race 7 - Number 7 - Ostraka ($7.00)

For my week 2 bet, I’m taking Ostraka at $7.00. His last three races have been Group 1 races and he has not been disgraced in any of these. In the Newmarket he did too much work early, and in the Oakleigh Plate he had too much to do late. The Golden Eagle he was outclassed and maybe 1500m was just further than he would have liked (but hey, who wouldn’t have a go for $5 million bucks). In these 3 runs he also drew barriers 13/15, 16/16 and 13/20 (respectively).

He is now back in a Group 3 race, at 1200m and draws a middle barrier. A lot of the speed in the race appears to be inside of him, meaning hopefully he gets a nice sit with a bit of cover a couple of pairs back, one out from the fence and then can finish the race off nicely.

I reckon if runs out this race similarly to how he ran out his wins in the spring, he will be hard to beat.

Dangers all over the race. I think the biggest of these will be Uncommon James and Espionage.
